The Explorer 1500 Portable Power Supply is part of the Speedotron Black Line System and uses Black Line Light Units and universal accessories.

The Explorer 1500 portable battery provides for up to 225 full power flashes and may be quickly replaced with a spare battery, "The Juice Box" (#11253) priced at $400. Each battery contains a universal recharging circuit which draws only 1.3 amperes max from 85 to 265 volts at 47Hz to 63Hz. The Explorer 1500 Digital can use electric current from nearly anywhere in the world without voltage adapters. The low current draw even allows recharging batteries with an inexpensive inverter connected to a car's accessory outlet!

• 1500 Watt-seconds at full power. The two light units are ratioed with a 2:1 (asymmetrical) ratio yielding 1000 w/s and 500 w/s each. There is an Isolate / Combine switch which allows connecting the two outlets together for a 1:1 (symmetrical) ratio when two lights are used or full power to one light. Power may be dialed down to -5 f-stops. (46.8 w/s total or 31.2 plus 15.6 w/s isolated)

• Removable battery module with built-in charger, “The Juice Box,” charges to 80% full charge in about two hours and slow charges to 100% overnight. The battery may be plugged into an AC line for charging while the power supply is being used so that it functions similarly to an AC power supply.

• A ten second timer operates model lamps to conserve battery charge, so no fan circuit is needed in this power supply. 150 watt quartz halogen model lamps are recommended to conserve additional battery power.

• The Explorer 1500 Digital features an illuminated LCD displaythat shows power level and system status. Selection of power in accurate repeatable 1/10 f-stop increments is
  accomplished by a single Push-N-Turncontrol that also allows the user to navigate three control and status menus.
