- Compact Design for Shooting on the Move
With a body measuring 90 x 112.6 x 54.5 mm and weighing just 268 g, the compact Xacti HD1010 is easy to carry anywhere. Now you can take stunning full-HD videos any time you like. The HD1010 sports a well balanced, vertically oriented design that fits comfortably in one hand, so you can enjoy long shooting sessions without tiring your wrist.
- Full High Definition Video Recording
The Xacti HD1010 adopts the MPEG-4 AVC/H264 format for high-compression recording. The resulting files are small in size, yet offer picture quality as good as, or better than, DVD (MPEG-2). A new high-speed shooting mode captures up to 300 fields per second, enabling smooth and detailed slow-motion playback. And to help keep your images steady, the HD1010 uses a digital image stabilizer to eliminate the effects of unwanted shaking.
- Still Images with Beautiful Contrast
More than just a movie-shooter, the dual-function Xacti HD1010 also captures still images with ease. An original algorithm employs a pixel-interpolation filter to convert the 4 megapixels captured by the CMOS to the recorded equivalent of 8 megapixels. Another proprietary Sanyo technology creates a wide dynamic range for stills, so that both dark and light areas can be captured at optimal exposure levels.
- CMOS Sensor for Full HD Movies
Full-HD recording with even higher quality has been achieved by a new pixel alignment method that produces more than twice the amount of information as required by the 1920 x 1080-pixel full-HD specification. With a larger area for each individual pixel in comparison with conventional image sensors, the new CMOS sensor captures much more light and records with greater sensitivity. Thanks to its low noise level, it also produces smearless images. This combines with a wider dynamic range to provide richer, more natural gradations. Still images with 4-megapixel resolution also benefit from this higher sensitivity.
- Newly Developed High-Speed Processor for Improved Image Quality
We have improved color reproduction and low-light shooting quality by increasing the amount of video data captured. This was achieved by altering the algorithm for the video compression codec; by optimizing the gamma characteristics, noise reduction, and other signal-processing components; and by increasing the bit rate from 12 to 14 Mbps. Images are processed using advanced MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 image compression technology. The new high-speed processor also speeds up the processing of high-volume full-HD data. This allows you to record approximately 37 minutes*1 of full-HD footage on a 4 GB SDHC memory card. In addition, single-chip integration contributes to the HD1010’s low power consumption and compact size. And by adding a new 1920 x 1080 30 fps*2 shooting mode, it's even easier for your PC to handle full-HD video.
*1 In full-HD mode (60 fields/s, 14 Mbps). *2 In full SHQ mode (30 fps, 12 Mbps).
- High-Speed Shooting and Slow Playback
With the Xacti HD1010, you can shoot at a fast 300 fields per second, and then play the footage back in slow motion. This lets you capture the fast movements of children or pets in play, as well as sports scenes, and then slow down and view your subjects’ changing facial expressions, which normally you can’t see. The HD1010 gives you all this plus vivid images of beautiful nature scenes and other difficult-to-catch images.
- Face Chaser Function for Stills and Videos
The Face Chaser function works for both still and motion images. The faces of up to 12 persons in the frame are instantly detected, and the focus and exposure are controlled to match the central subject.
