: Will the 15mm Nikonos lens take a picture with the main subject being large enough in that picture without being able to focus at its 1 foot minimum. For example you want to take a picture of a moray eel and you don't want to get that close. Will the 15mm be able to reproduce the eel at a large enough size or would the better lens choice be the 20mm. which lens makes a better all around choice.
Robert:
Although subject size is an issue, generally speaking, the wider the lens, the closer you will need to get. If you approach moreys slowly and in a non-threatening manner, they are pretty docile...as long as you don't poke them.
I think the 15mm (#NK10315X $1495.00) would be an excellent choice for a close focus wide angle photo if you want to capture diver/critter interaction or maximize the amount of available-light lit background in the image. And it is all around a very versatile lens.
Or, at the other end of the spectrum, use a Nikonos Close-up Outfit (#NK10705N $174.00) with either a 35mm or 28mm lens to get a full-frame head shot.
If you REALLY don't want to get close, try the Nikonos 80mm lens (#NK10312X $349.00). But you gotta be real accurate on your focus due to the extremely narrow depth-of-field of this lens.
