: I am considering adding a 2nd strobe. I now use the sb105 with both my nikonos v and my housed n90. Since
: I spend most of my time shooting macro, I'm thinking of a smaller size strobe that could also provide fill lighting when used with the 105 as a slave. A modeling light feature is also desireable. Please suggest options.
A matched pair of strobes is probably the most flexible way to configure.
-Use a 2-stop diffuser on one strobe to use it for fill.
-Lets you decide which side the fill flash is on. (if you get a smaller strobe, the fill will always be on the side with the small strobe.)
-Can be used for close focus wide angle (CFWA)
A modelling light mounted on the housing works better than one mounted on the strobes
(strobes are rarely aimed directly at your subject)
