Canon EOS Elan 7e

I just ordered a Canon EOS Elan 7e, and I am new to underwater gear. Is there anywhere I can look to find a body for this camera, or is there another body I should have purchased in the $500 range that would work better for both topside and underwater shooting. I have also heard it might be easier to buy a used underwater camera and skip the housing issue. As a complete rookie, any and all help in directions to search for information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Randy
