: I am just looking into under water options, and I have a 6 month old Sony DCR-PC5 video camera and was wondering if they made a housing for that, and what additional gear would it take to get decent video footage under water? Thanks, Randy
Randy:
Assuming you want to go to scuba depths, Ikelite makes the #6037.75 UW Video Housing f/PC5 (rated to 200'), that we sell for $760.00. Viewable at www.ikelite.com.
In addition to the housing w/included marine color correction filter, you will want to consider an uw video lite if you want color video below approx. 70 feet, or plan to video any ship/cave penetration dives, or night dives. The #6340.05(100w) or #6340.55(50w) Pro Video-Lite II sells for $440.00. This is not used with the filter.
With a maximum operational depth of 30ft, there is the flexible PVC #VPC EWA-Marine Video Housing f/PC5, selling for $233.00. Viewable at www.ewa-marine.com. Since you can not use a video light with this unit, I would recommend adding a marine color correction filter to the camera ($44.25) for color video below 10ft.
