: Does (or did) Ikelite make a housing for this camera? I don't see one listed in their current catalogue.
: What type of strobe issues am I going to get myself into if I go this route?
Jason:
Eight years ago or so, Ikelite used to make the #5531 SLR Case for Pentax KX. They no longer offer any non-motordrive housing for manual focus SLR's.
Contact Ikelite at www.ikelite.com or 317-923-4523 to see if they will custom manufacture a non-MD SLR housing for your camera. Minimum cost to expect would be $760.00 for the housing body only (you'll also need a lens port), and may require sending your camera and lens to Ikelite for fitting. If they advise that they can make a housing for you, we can handle that order for you.
As for strobe issues, you'll be looking at purchasing an Ikelite strobe, such as the SS50 ($280.00) or SS100 ($352.00) used in non-TTL manual mode. All your exposures will be based on the guide number and the camera-to-subject distance factored into the manual exposure formula. You will also need a strobe arm ($48.00-$152.00) and a sync cord ($80.00).
