The DS160 combines power with wide angle coverage to give you the most bang for your buck.

The quality of light is exceptional due to a round flash tube and custom powder coated reflector designed specifically to deliver the softest, most even coverage possible. Strobes with a straight flashtube may be capable of high powers, but require the addition of a diffuser to spread out their sharp, rectangular beam pattern and reduce the harsh hot spot. The DS160 beam is designed to be perfectly soft and wide spread through its reflector design, and is capable of providing you the coverage and power you want and avoiding the one f/stop loss caused by adding a diffuser.

Both our DS160 and DS161 strobes are legendary for their ability to keep up in rapid firing situations—a cut above any flash on the market. Electrical sync connection and a high-capacity battery pack provide the speed you need to capture fast moving subjects like sharks and sailfish at just the right millisecond.

When combined with a compatible TTL system, the DS160 automatically adjusts brightness to provide perfect exposure whether you're shooting macro, portrait or wide angle. Focus on your camera settings and composition and enjoy the increased number of flashes and even faster recycle time you'll get when working with a TTL system.

A bright, concentrated LED aiming light provides more than enough light for focusing or as a night diving light. The LED turns off and on when the strobe is fired, ensuring that no bright spots will ruin your photo.

The DS160 strobe output is identical to its sister model, the DS161. The DS161 features a built-in 500 lumen video light in place of the DS160's aiming light.

NiMH batteries are work horses, and a great choice for high powered rechargeable devices due to their performance and reliability at a more affordable price point than lithium ion. This high capacity battery pack provides professional quality power and speed flash after flash, well beyond the capabilities of even the best AA-cell batteries.

Shooting full power flashes? Expect a lightning fast 1.6 second recycle time and over 225 flashes on a single charge. Shooting TTL or in a fractional power setting? You'll get very close to instantaneous recycle time and up to 3X as many flashes... plenty for a day of diving! This battery recharges in half the time of its Li-Ion counterpart for quick topping off before your night dive.

Our famous quick-release toggle system attaches the battery pack with ease and confidence, making a flooded battery virtually impossible.

The included Smart Charger for NiMH accepts variable voltage in the 100-240V range and includes AC adapters for US, Europe, UK and Australia. Smart charging provides safety and helps to increase the lifetime of the pack by switching over to a trickle charge when the battery pack is fully recharged. Feedback on charging cycle is indicated by an LED on the front of the charger.

This charger is compatible with NiMH and NiCad battery packs only. Smart Chargers designed for NiMH or NiCad batteries cannot be used with Li-Ion technology.

This viewfinder is designed to position the viewing window farther away from the housing without changing the viewfinder image size. Enjoy a brighter, larger image with less vignetting (dark shadows in the corners of the image) as compared to our standard viewfinder.

The 45° Viewfinder provides a totally different shooting experience. Since we are typically in a horizontal position when diving, viewing your frame at an angle reduces arm fatigue and often makes framing easier when your subject is slightly below you and/or tucked into the reef. The 45° Viewfinder rotates to any angle, so it's simple to switch between shooting landscape, portrait, or just about anything in between!

Two versions of this viewfinder are available to provide adequate control clearance. Choose Type 1 or 2 based on your camera model. Refer to the compatibility chart, below.

The included tool makes it easy to remove your housing's original viewfinder, and both install and remove the 45° Magnified Viewfinder. We recommend removing the 45° Magnified Viewfinder from the housing for travel. Since no modification of the housing is necessary, the standard viewfinder may be re-installed and your Magnified Viewfinder will transition to your next Ikelite DSLR housing when you upgrade cameras.

This viewfinder is designed specifically for use with Ikelite housings.
